Cristo Rey is dominant and protects the city with open arms, like Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At night, we can not forget it's presence as the green light strongly shines. It is open until 20pm, and located on a mountain road with curves. After this time, only the back is visible as access is closed.

Symbol of the city of Cali, this temple was constructed in 1942, and is a Gothic church inspired by the Cologne Cathedral. It is situated at the corner of highway 1 and street 13. Its original name was "Chapel of Our Lady of Solitude River". Formally in its place lied a small chapel that was destroyed in 1787 by a strong earthquake that hit the city. San Antonio Church
Situated on one of the hills of Cali (the San Antonio), with superb views of the city, it was built in the baroque style, and finished in the year 1747. The whiteness of its facade contrasts with the greenness of the hill. The temple has a rectangular brick façade has a semicircular arch in Moorish style. Inside stands the main altar, also built in a baroque style, with images of the colonial era, highlighting a patron of the temple, San Antonio de Padua.
Zoos in Cali
Cali Zoo
This is a great place where you can see all sorts of species of animal - mammals, fish, birds, butterflys and many others. There is also an aquarium. It is a place for the whole family, which I highly recommend. There are also good restaurants. It is easy to get to and entry prices vary, I think that they accept the Coomeva discount card.
Of Cultural Interest in Cali
Artesanal Loma de la Cruz Park
Cali is the corner where culture meets and and explodes in different ways and crafts our region. It has a panoramic view of the entire city from many different angles, and the weather is cool because it is located on a hill and is safe day and night due to a police department nearby. There are many events and every Friday there are storytellers and concerts.
Rivers in Cali
Alumbrado Navideño de Cali
Illuminating the Cali River is a surprising and strange place called Cali to which one can not but be left speechless. I remember all the people we spoke to that were enlightened and honestly, I did not know what it was, until a taxi driver (incredibly friendly) took us from the mall CHIPICHAPE to the place. From what I I could surmise, it is held every year during the months of December and January. Preparation is hard work (I do not doubt this in the least) and all join the Cali family to explore it and pose for souvenir photos . The bars in the area are full of rejoicing at the extra work that these days bring. You know, if you walk by Cali at end of the year, do not forget to go to this beautiful illuminated.
Shopping Malls in Cali
Centro Comercial Chipichape
This huge mall is in the business industrial district in the city; is defined by the streets 38 and 35, and sixth and eighth avenue. Built in the same place where the old workshops were on Pacific Railroad. There are over 480 shops with many clothing stores, shoe stores, drugstores, bookstores, household items, jewelry, etc.. There are also banks, cash machines, money exchange, internet rooms, fitness center and a hotel, the "Spiwak Chipichape Cali". There's parking for 3,500 vehicles and an open area dedicated to leisure, with plenty of dining options, cafes, playgrounds (the "Chipichape station"), and cinema with 7 screens.

Churches in Cali
Iglesia de la Merced
The church of Our Lady of La Merced is part of the religious complex where the city of Santiago de Cali was founded. As well as the church, you can see the chapel of the Virgin of the Remedies, the St. John Lateran and a colonial convent and religious art museum, which was unfortunately closed when I visited. In 1975, the monastery was declared a national monument by the government of Colombia, and the whole complex is worth visiting as it's extremely well maintained and preserved, which is not very common in the colonial area of the city.

Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport
Since the launch of the Colombian low-cost airline Live Avianca, flying in Colombia is often cheaper than taking a bus and makes for a nice way to visit the larger cities like Cartagena, Bogota, or Cali. Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport is the main airport serving Cali and is located approximately 45 minutes by taxi from the city center. You can also get there by bus, but it takes a little longer.

For salsa-lovers, the neighborhood of San Antonio is the place to be. During the day, the white homes and red Mediterranean flowers make for a scenic and intriguing visit, but the neighborhood comes alive when the sun goes down and the neighborhood becomes the salsa capital of Cali.

Parque de Los Poetas
Located behind the blue church from the Hermitage, the small park of poets is the place to go among nature for the writers in Cali. Don't know what to do in Cali? Well, it depends on what you're interested in. There are plenty of religious and historical places to visit in Cali if you're interested in the past, but the city boasts an equally vibrant nightlife, so if clubbing is top of your list of Cali activities, you'll be spoiled for choice.

The city's main monument is Christ the King, the famous statue located atop a hill which is similar to Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. From there the views of all the things to see in Cali are beautiful -- but be careful climbing up the mountain!

Another of the attractions in Cali is the monument of Sebastián de Belalcázar, located in the hills, with its head facing the city and its finger pointing towards the nearby valleys. Los Farallones National Park is a park of great beauty and was protected by the government in recent years. It's one of the things to do in Cali that particularly attracts adventurers, naturalists, and hikers. But there are more Cali attractions both inside and outside the city centre: hermitages, viewpoints, beautiful valleys, mountains, lakes, and also a very special nearby city, Buga, which houses the Cathedral of the Lord of Miracles and The Vinculo, a nature reserve with a variety of flora and fauna. And if you're looking for stuff to do in Cali after dark, get yourself to Sixth Avenue and Juanchito, two areas where the music never stops!
