Of Touristic Interest in Gramado
Mini Mundo
(18)
When we visited Mini Mundo, in the month of January, we were lucky enough to have a personal guide to show us around. This tour is a great experience - when you're buying your ticket, be sure to request it! We had the opportunity to learn the entire history of Mini Mundo, told by someone who just loves working with the miniatures. We were absolutely delighted with the park, and learned so much.
Lakes in Gramado
Lago Negro
(17)
This is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city - a super public park built around an artificial lake near the city centre. The Black Lake is surrounded by the region's vegetation, with large pine trees and flowers, including hydrangeas and azaleas. You can walk around the perimeter of the lake in about 40 minutes, or take different types of pedal boats, including the famous swan boats, which delight children and romantic couples. Recommended.

Churches in Gramado
Igreja Matriz São Pedro Apóstolo
(13)
This church was built entirely of wood in 1917, then rebuilt in stone in 1943. It has a lot of historical interest, but the most notable thing about it is its magnificent beauty. The Roman-style building stands out here in Brazil, where we're more used to whitewashed churches.
Airports in Porto Alegre
Salgado Filho International Airport
(9)
Salgado Filho International Airport is the largest in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and one of the most important in Brazil. Around 5 million passengers pass through the airport each year. It offers domestic flights to most major destinations in Brazil and also has some international flights to places like Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. It's located 6 miles from the center of Porto Alegre and you can get there by bus or taxi. The latter isn't exactly a cheap option, so be sure to negotiate the price with the driver beforehand. The airport has car rental counters from all the biggest companies (Hertz, Avis, Locate, United Lemmans, Luxcar) and there's a 24-hour business center which has banks, a change bureau, a post office, ATMs, a VIP lounge, public telephones, wifi, and more. For shopping, it has souvenir stands and of course duty free. There are no hotels in the airport itself, but there are shuttles available to take you to the closest hotels. I recommend the VIP room (just look at the picture!).
Historical Monuments in Porto Alegre
Centro Histórico

The name - happy port - sounds like a promise and indeed, Puerto Alegre is one of the most dynamic cities in Brazil, quite different from the cosmopolitan beach destinations the country is famous for. The state of Rio Grande do Sul was colonised mainly by Italians and Germans, so people are mostly white, and the city is in many ways quite European. If you want to take a tour of the historical part of the city, I recommend visiting the Central Market, a neoclassical nineteen century building with shops of all kinds, restaurants and bars. Glênio Peres Square, next to the market, is always full of people and vendors. I was surprised to find myself suddenly in front of a huge fountain, a gift from the Spanish, made with ceramics from Talavera de la Reina. Another thing that surprised me was a cultural center, lllamado Usina do Gasometer, installed in the headquarters building of the power plant that supplies the capital. The interior of the building has been redesigned to accommodate all kinds of cultural activities. When I went, they were rehearsing a play and a dance group was also practicing their choreography. You have to climb to the terrace, which offers fabulous views of the Rio Guaiba.

Stadiums in Porto Alegre
Arena do Grêmio
(17)
In 2012, the Grêmio moved to the Olmpic stadium, to the do Grêmio Arena. The new tricolor stadium was opened with a big party, worthy of one of the best clubs in Brazil. Despite the sadness of leaving the old stadium, the new field was welcomed. For someone used to the old stadium in Azenha the change was great. The new stadium was built at the entrance of the city, in the Humait neighbourhood. Now, to get to Porto Alegre, either by car or plane, you can see across the stadium. The Arena do Grêmio is very beautiful with blue chairs and a modern structure, the stadium is one of the best in the country. Grêmio hosts matches, and also accommodates concerts and other events. Anyone who likes football and will go through Porto Alegre, need to include the Arena on the route. To reach the stadium you can opt for public transport or drive. If you are visiting the stadium the day of the party, consider the heavy movement. The Arena is a spectacle! Little Gem!
Villages in Torres
Torres
(4)
Torres is located in the area of Rio Grande do Sul and is a place that has beautiful beaches and a city that has everything to enjoy: Paraguayan-style shows, evening shows in the main square, wagon rides, a large variety of buffet restaurants, boat trips on the river Mampituba, and many more activities. This town is highly recommended.
Streets in Gramado
Rua Coberta
(17)
Rua Coberta is a really beautiful covered walkway that has numerous shops and restaurants. There is a stage where local artists play at night, and during the Christmas season you have singers, trees, choirs, music groups, and other acts. It's free, but make sure arrive early to get a seat as early as possible.

Snowland
(13)
Snowland is a must in Singapore. It's an indoor park where you can ski, ice skate, or snowboard in a fun and rather beautiful environment. Admission includes boots, a helmet and clothing for the cold, which according to information was about -15 degrees. Be careful though because the floor can be slippery.

Museums in Gramado
Dreamland Wax Museum
(10)
This is the Brazilian wax museum, located in the beautiful city of Gramado. It's not as impressive as the famous Madame Tussauds in London, but it's still a fun place to visit with replicas of national and international celebrities. You can, for example, have your picture taken next to Madonna, with Harry Potter, or even go back in time to see Charlie Chaplin. Some of the replicas are really fascinating, and are perfectly detailed. However, others are missing from the museum - Ayrton Senna, Princess Diana, Elvis Presley. There are also some horror characters and animated characters, like the Simpsons, and Shrek. Tickets cost 30.00 for adults, 15.00 per person for pensioners, and $ 20.00 for children aged six to twelve. Students get a discount, and there are often other discounts and special offers available.
Cathedrals in Porto Alegre
Metropolitan Cathedral
(9)
I have never seen a building like this in the very centre of a city! It has several towers, in addition to some carvings on the exterior walls. It was designed by the architect Joao Batista Giovenale. The main dome is about 65 metres high and 18 metres in diameter ... it's hard to imagine how large it is without seeing it in person! There are lots of trees in front of the church, which is set in a pleasant, quiet square. I recommend taking an afternoon to visit the cathedral and the nearby monuments, like Porto Alegre Piratini Palace, the Marechal Deodoro, Teatro San Pietro and Farroupilha Palace ... I recommend spending an afternoon to visit these monuments. You can see the Cathedral, even if you are making a boat trip on Guaba; its size makes it easily recognizable.
