While we were in Asia, some people wanted to know what the best beach in the area was. I recommended Bali, Thailand and the Philippines. But I wanted to go to a place full of European tourists. Toasted by the sun. Then everyone agreed. It had to be Palawan. And what I found there is paradise on earth. Secluded beaches, crystal waters, thousands of colorful fish, calm, light, stars, forested islands and very few tourists. There were less than a hundred in the whole city. As experiences to give you an idea: - lie on the beach for a nap. Waking up after a while and be surrounded by lizards are sunning themselves on the sand all around you. - Sleep a night on a desert island and a swim in the dark between fluorescent plankton. It's amazing, you haven't lived until you've done it.
Walking around Manila is a different experience. Its natives are friendly and open, generally you do not feel unsafe when walking around. The part of the historic center, Intramuros, which I visited, is 100% safe. I recommend keeping an eye on pickpockets and closing the bags (and this was recommended by Filipino friends in Japan), but really I had no problem.
