The Mariano Beach bar is a snack bar/hostel that I recommend without hesitation. It has fast and efficient service. It also has good views and some great water sprayers to combat the heat. The best place for this vacation.
This restaurant was recommended to us by the hostel where we stayed, as they have agreed on a price for their overnight guests. As we approached we found the typical village bar and dismissed it at first. Experience however taught us that not to judge by appearances and we decided to return there for a meal. It is a family restaurant, so much so that the father is responsible for the fish of the day, the mother prepares the food and the daughter attends to the corresponding service and presentation. It is advisable to book a day in advance, not only because it is a small establishment but also because they will catch fish according to what the customer demands. The freshness of what they get from the sea is undisputed and you can have varieties that are only found in the area, names we have never even heard of. We delighted in a rich black rice, the best we ever had, as well as a homemade dessert that we could not deny, a kind of fried pastry with custard and cream, delicious.
On the way back from Mini Hollywood and enjoying the view of the road, we stopped for lunch in Carboneras. We ate at the Sun and Sea Restaurant, on the town's boardwalk, which is part of the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park. It offers traditional cuisine and specializes in fish, seafood and paella, which was what we tried. It was really very good. The menu was about 25-30€ per person.
This establishment is a bar on the beach serving quite good fish, but the service is very slow. The portions are not expensive, the average price is about 9 €. The tuna costs about 10 €. The chocolate cake tastes like burning and gas. Level of satisfaction? Average.
The beach bar (or chiringuito) on Barquicos Beach in Carboneras, offers delicious servings of fish, seafood and rice. The black rice is the best I've ever eaten, preparing it took awhile, but it was worth the wait.
El Tio Kiko is in the town of Nijar, in the province of Almeria, Spain. If you come here one day, or if you live here, this restaurant will leave you completely satisfied, and you can see the love they put into all their dishes. The waiters are attentive and helpful, you'll have a great time.
