This is a Belgian coffee chain that has a branch in Mumbai, with a great location next to the Gateway of India. It has the same decoration as its other branches have. It's a good place for coffee and light meals (salads, sandwiches), in a relaxed atmosphere (important in chaotic India),where many young people come.

Pizza By The Bay
Open every day of the week from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., this place is part of the Mars group. It began its career in Mumbai in 1968, but this exact restaurant was opened in 1994. It gets pretty crowded because the location is great- it faces the Bay of Mumbai and it's close to the Churchgate metro station. It is mainly pizzas (also served at home) but they also have some pasta dishes, very good indeed, they do serve beer here. It is a place frequented mainly by young people, and also have karaoke with what is usually very lively. The staff is very nice.

It's a cafe, well, in reality it's a restaurant rather than a cafe as we know them. It's a popular place in Mumbai, that's mostly visited by foreigners. The service is super fast. That day they didn't serve alcohol, but they should be because it was the Indian Independence day, August 15. We had some juice (pomegranate and orange, delicious) and a pizza. If something is striking murals painted all over the walls of the room are a chulada.

Pratap Lunch Home
Pratap Lunch Home is a restaurant in the Fort District in the south of Mumbai. I really recommend the spicy prawn and chicken curries. For dessert, try a traditional Gulab Jamun. The restaurant itself is clean and bright. It is busy, especially on Fridays. I went back there several times during my trip. Sincerely recommended.

Cafe Paradise
Cafe Paradise is a popular, local restaurant in this Muslim neighborhood on the edge of the Chor Bazaar, near the end of the famous "Mutton Street." It's a small air-conditioned room with a (very) low ceiling and a jug for you to wash your hands at the end of the meal! The food is simple but good and the service is friendly. It's a true slice of Mumbai.

There are numerous "chai" shops like this in India. It only uses a fire to keep the snack bar open all day. It's used to heat up milk and natural tea to create the most common drink in the country, "chai". It is also quite normal, not frightening, to see young children working from sunrise to sunset. Unfortunately children around the country work when they are quite young. This was in the middle of a busy market and was ideal for seeing the commotion around. The price of "chai" is between 2 and 4 rupees in the whole country. If you are only there for a few days it doesn't really matter, but if you stay a long time it's something you should know. If you get to one of these places and pay directly without asking things it is easier if you want to ask something else later.

Trattoria
A delicious Italian dinner in India! There was a large group of us, and we all ate very well. I ordered pasta with fresh asparagus, mushrooms, and pine nuts. Tomorrow, I'll go again!
