After reaching the city center, which was quite an ordeal due to endless construction, we noticed this place's appearance. The outside looked like a traditional French "brasserie," and did not hint at anything modern.
The inside however was very modern and elegant, dim lights and above all the friendliest staff. Despite not speaking a word of Spanish or English (understandably), they made every effort to understand and be understood.
The food was very good and the proportions were just right ... and the best of all was the price. It was a curious mix of French cuisine with Italian and even with the influence of other European cuisines. They had cheesecake, bacon and onion ... and beef carpaccio, and pork filet mignon.
They also offer the possibility of a fixed menu, with a wide range of combinations at decent prices. A perfect place for a nice dinner in the middle of the city.
This establishment is situated at the bottom of the Cordería Real, on the banks of the pond of Plaisance in Rochefort. The Cap Nell offers its customers a unique setting, which the restaurant´s image manages to fully maintain (both inside and out). The Cap Nell offers 3 different menus: The Wednesday menu for 17.40 euros, 19.40 euros for the normal menu and the menu of the Earth costs 25 euros. I especially liked the Parrilla of Mareyeur (marinated sardines, smoked tuna, marinated squid, tuna rillettes with lemon, green salad, tomato and potato). I recommend you try it with a glass of white wine, it is truly delicious.
I'd never seen anything like this! The Tiki, a bar/restaurant/brewery, is right on the beach, and is a great place for a drink, a snack, or a leisurely meal by the sea. In addition, the prices are really affordable: for only 5.90 you can have a bowl of mussels and for 2 euros more, a good steak! : D In short, an absolute must!
Situated on the banks of the Gartempe River and one of the oldest houses of Montmorillón, this creperie only has 8 wooden tables and chairs and is worth-the-while for crepe lovers. Not a big tourist location but the people are charming, it is a place where you really can taste one of the typical French dishes and if accompanied with a salad seasoned with herbs, it´s to die for. It may be that during certain times of the year it can become crowded and you will have to wait, but it is well worth it. But be mindfull of the time because if you show up late than 2:30 you might find it is too late to eat.
L'Épi de Blé is a restaurant that is on the street that goes down between the bars from the Old Port. Not only do they have crepes and pancakes, but also steak tartare and salmon ... The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 11h to 23h. They also have a cheese tasting club which organizes meals with cheese to taste ... I tried a sugar cake and it was delicious!
Le Comptoir des Voyages is one of the restaurants in Coutanceau Grégory. It is located on Saint-Jean du Perot: Called by some "the street of restaurants". It features international cuisine cooked with local ingredients and Western techniques. It seems to invite you to travel ... "There is a menu of 19 €: starter + main dish or dessert with main course + 1 glass of wine and 1 coffee. And there is also a € 31.50 menu. We tried an appetizer that surprised me with its flavor, a carpaccio of mango marinated in sate and spicy tuna from Mauritius. Both of these choices were wonderful.
La Boussole restaurant serves cuisine with flavors and fragrances from all over the world. It offers 3 options: - An "night" menu for 14.7 € - Starter + plate or dish + dessert for € 21.8 - Starter Menu + Dish + Dessert for € 25.4. I tried the Starter menu + Dish with goats cheese rolled in honey and poppy seeds: super good!! And for the main course: Grilled Salmon with Cajun spices: it was also very good. If you want to find a kitchen which is original and also good ... make a brief stop at The Compass.
La Petite Auberge is open between 12h00 and 14h00 and from 19h30 to 22h30 (It is closed on Sundays and Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch time). Established by sponsors of Aunis, this small restaurant is very friendly and has everything you need: good atmosphere, beautiful facade, customers and a large variety of cuisine ... I love the food presentation and décor! On the other hand, I can say that it is quite expensive but worth it. There is a menu for 28 € or you can choose a la carte.
Le Canot is one of the Cours des Dames restaurants in La Rochelle. They serve cheap seafood, grilled meats and fish, mussels (between € 8.50 and € 10.50), pizzas, salads, etc.. It's a pretty nice place if you´re looking for a restaurant specializing in French cuisine during the summer. I ate there once and didn´t seem half bad. However, in my opinion, the the Cours des Dames restaurants are not the best restaurants in La Rochelle. For the same amount of money you can eat better in other places.
Like all good criticism, it must be accepted, the Côte de Boeuf has to make an extra effort in order to reach the standard of other restaurants on the Rue Saint-Jean du Perot ... On all levels: the place, decoration, the service ... My friend and I were very disappointed with our dinner there. When you go into a restaurant called "the Côte de Boeuf", you expect a minimum quality of the meat, ours was not very good and the accompaniment was a sticky rice. I do not recommend this restaurant.
Well decorated with fine presentation and delicious products! The "Rannou et Métivier," is one of the oldest in the city of Poitiers and continues to be successful with their delicious products: Chocolates, and "macarons" or macaroni. You will find different flavors, some original and others more classical. Prices are quite high but you're at the height of quality, but the macaroons are France's specialty, so feel free to try them here, where they're the best! Anyway we eventually had to carry on our way, it's on one of the busiest pedestrian streets, and the window is pure temptation!
Mezzo di Pasta is situated on Rue des Grandes Ecoles, one of the pedestrian streets of Poitiers. The franchise is present in several cities and haspasta (medium or large portions) to take away or eat on site, for a reasonable price. A good choice to have for a picnic, or a quick lunch when there is no time for a formal restaurant or McDonalds. But beyond that, what I liked about the place was that it has preserved its decorated "art nouveau" initial building, updated with bright colors to brighten one day!
In the heart of the beautiful medieval town of Chauvigny and housed in a beautiful Renaissance-style building dating back to the fifteenth century we find the quaint, charming and attractive restaurant "Les choucas". It is a "rare bird" and that the premises constitute the sole survivor of the old taverns that once proliferated in this area of the city. In "The Rooks",-literal translation of Les choucas-exudes the charm of a noble building with years of history and surely filled with stories - if the old walls could speak- endearing as it would be. On the lower floor dining intense reds match perfectly with the black ebony furniture and the bare and worn stones of arches and stairways. On the upper floor, a splendid fireplace is the centrepiece of the lounge and the diner enjoys whatever comes ...... there is a high quality kitchen, committed to local tradition whilst keeping sight of creativity and innovation. It's late December and we are reluctant to abandon late Spanish eating times, luckily - and probably due to these factors, the restaurant was almost empty so the owner gave us his full attention and patiently gives the menu with special emphasis on the chef's suggestions; which sounded so appetizing, so evocative of French haute cuisine dishes so that even those who do not understand a word of French start to water at the mouth "bûchette veau d'onglet poêlé, risotto coloré of coquillettes, pétales of parmesan "," Grilled Hachez recouvert veau de foin "," foie gras de pata negra "," cochon de lait à la Truffe carré "," lotte rôti Pata Negra "," I homard et de la Bretagne " Who cannot water at the mouth? You can eat very well for the 20-30 € menu per person (which includesa bottle of French wine medium-low), you can try one of two menus € 24 and 32 respectively, or enjoy the special which will cost you about 15 €. Whatever your choice you will enjoy excellent local food in a pleasant environment, I would recommend following the chef's suggestions for some pleasant surprises ... Enjoy!
I love this restaurant. I come here for lunch once a week with my boss, and we both recommend it. The lunchtime menu has a great quality : price ratio. In summer, there are a lot of people, so you may have to wait a little longer, but the terrace is very nice. For me, the best restaurant in the port of La Rochelle.
The "Entre 2" is an ice cream parlour that is almost in the port of La Rochelle, in the little streets around that area. As well as ice cream, you can eat waffles, drink a cocktail, or just a coke, as it's not too expensive. The outdoor terrace allows you to admire the sea and the ships while you eat. In terms of flavours, I recommend the apricot ice cream - delicious!
The Theobar is not far from the city centre, next to Amerigo Vespucci street. It serves coffee, drinks, cakes, and especially tea - a wide variety is on offer. You can also enjoy lunch here. I really like it: it's cozy and friendly, with a terrace outside, and armchairs and cushions inside. In the background, there are large tables and a small library. The owner is very nice.
I live right across from la Taverne de Maitre Kanter, but had been there several times before moving in. It's a huge restaurant only a few steps from the City Hall that's great for lunch as the service is quick and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The decor of the place is nice and the food is good and plentiful. However, prices are quite high (but we can't expect all this without paying for it!). The desserts look very nice, but I didn't have enough time to try them.
