    the willows hotel
    Hotels in
    Chicago
The Willows was the hotel where I stayed on my second trip to Chicago. (On my first stay I had chosen a large, luxury hotel in the South Loop (Chicago Hilton) which was radically different in character and much higher in price). This hotel is located in Lakeview, an upscale neighborhood (wealthy class) close to Lincoln Park. It is a quiet residential neighborhood of low-rise buildings, with tree-lined streets. It has great charm and is full of restaurants and bars, but I have to admit I was wrong in my choice. Lakeview is a great place to live, but far from all the tourist attractions of the city, except those of Lincoln Park. It is a small hotel located in an area with historic European flair. The decor is classic and it is very quiet. It is nothing like the big chain hotels in the city center. The room was comfortable, although I found it small, I do not know if I was comparing it to my suite at the Hilton. The common areas are what I liked, it felt like a little Parisian hotel. There are many public transportation options that are relatively near. But it was not what I was looking for in Chicago - vibrancy and liveliness. So on successive trips I stayed at big, downtown hotels. However, for a romantic, young couple, is a good choice. And quite economical.

    warwick allerton hotel chicago
    Hotels in
    Chicago
The Allerton Hotel was one of the first skyscrapers of the Magnificent Mile, which was built in the late 1920s. During Al Capone's reign in Chicago, it was one of the key areas of social life of the city. Then, with the passing of time and and the construction of other glass and steel giants, it lost its luster and fell into disrepute. Ten years ago, it underwent an extensive renovation that restored it to its former glory, something this historic building deserves. One of its distinguishing features is the sign TIP TOP TAP on the exterior wall which was once the name of the bar on the top floor which closed 50 years ago. However, the sign has remained in place ever since and is now one of the icons of the city.

    Chicago
The Hilton Chicago is in the cultural part of Michigan Avenue, the famous "shopping street" of Chicago. Directly across it is Grant Park, one of the largest public parks in the U.S. This building dates back to 1927, and everyone from actors and singers, to politicians like Bill Clinton has stayed here. This hotel has reasonable rates, a private safe for guests and every amenity. In addition, the Sightseeing Bus stops at the door, making it very easy to travel to any part of the city. Interestingly, this hotel appears in the movie "The Hunt for the Red Wolf" (1989), Andrew Davis.

    crowne plaza chicago hotel

    Chicago
This is one of the best hotels that you can find in Chicago. It's located Downtown, 50 meters from Michigan Avenue and just a three minutes walk from the beaches of Chicago. The rooms are very large with king or queen beds and the pillows are HUGE, you'll quickly fall asleep. Most rooms have views but the views from from the 30th floor are the best. The people who work there are very attentive and try to help you in any way they can. But best of all, is definitely the pool they have in the Penthouse. One can bathe while gazing at the buildings of Chicago, have a drink while watching the beach or even sunbathe while watching the sunset ...

    the ritz-carlton, chicago

    Chicago
Unfortunately I can't say that I've stayed at this hotel, which is one of the most, if not the most luxurious, in Chicago, but my daughter was playing in the park directly in front of it, (Seneca Park) and she had an urgent need to visit the bathroom. Since it was early and the shops were closed, the only option was the Ritz. This hotel is located in the great assembly [poi = 115387] Water Tower Place [/ poi], which includes a large shopping center with offices, restaurants, etc. It is in the very center of the city, right next to the Water Tower and the Magnificent Mile. You won't need to tell anyone it's a five-star hotel, as they've spared no expense on the decor. It's quite minimalist, but extremely luxurious. My son's sudden illness let us get a glimpse inside this amazing hotel, especially the lounge, with a large glass roof lets enjoy an unimaginable view of the skyscrapers around it, especially the John Hancock Tower. We didn't have anything to eat or drink because with kids it wouldn't have been possible, but I highly recommend going to have a romantic drink to enjoy the atmosphere and the views. It's a high-class place, no doubt.

    71 hotel
    Hotels in
    Chicago
This is one of the hotels I know solely due to my son's unique phisiological emergencies that only seem to happen when we're on vacation. We were walking along the Riverwalk in Chicago and this hotel was the only toilet around. Consequently, I can only speak about public areas and the exterior. The 71 is a four-star hotel on Wacker Drive in the north part of Koop, facing the river. Its location is good as it is within walking distance of Michigan Avenue and the theater district. It'simmediately apparent that it's a boutique hotel with a personalized design and signature touches, nothing to do with the cold and impersonal nature of many chain hotels. The style of decoration is minimalist and urban in nature, featuring predominantly dark colors and reds. I found that kind design a bit cold, almost Nordic, but there are many wooden elements that give it some warmth. In any case, it is very modern and aimed towards a yuppie-type audience. Its location is also good for business travelers.

    sofitel chicago water tower hotel
    Hotels in
    Chicago
This recently-opened Sofitel hotel chain really caught my attention for its cool architectural design. In fact, it has won the award for best building in Chicago over the past ten years. I can not speak about the inside since I haven't even been in the door, but the outside is wonderful. It is a huge triangular tower of glass tapered from its southern edge as if done by a giant axe. Furthermore, it leans forward so that the upper floors literally hanging over the street. I don't know how the rooms of the tip are (pretty close together, I assume) but I'm sure the views are spectacular. It's located in the Water Tower area, almost facing Hancock Tower. If you have the budget for it, I'm convinced that it must be a great hotel. In any case, the building is impressive and very photogenic.

    intercontinental hotel chicago
    Hotels in
    Chicago
The InterContinental Hotel is one of the great classics of the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Set in a pair of two towers, the one found on the south side has historical value, and the other is a bit impersonal and added in the 1960s. The original building dates back to the 1920s and houses an athletic club. Its architecture reflects popular oriental influence at the time, with Assyrian style sculptural themes and a golden dome well placed at the top of a mosque. As a hotel is a large property it is able to combine the elegance of the past along with modern conveniences. It's not up to par with the best hotels in town, but its location is unbeatable and the prices, except in times of fairs or large conferences, tend to be somewhat lower than other similar establishments. It is a large chain hotel, very American, but without falling into the impersonal vibes of many others. Yes, we must insist that you choose any housing in the south tower ...

    best western grant park hotel
    Hotels in
    Chicago
The Grant Park Hotel is splendidly located on South Michigan Avenue. It is a three star hotel and belongs to the Best Western chain. We had already flown in from Buenos Aires in time to attend the American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting which is held every year in any major city in the United States. It is a warm, with excellent views of Grant Park. From the large window of the 5th. Floor where we stayed, we had a beautiful view of not only the park, but the Museum of Natural Sciences and McCormick Place. I don't remember the price right now, but I chose it based on the location to price ratio. Good service, and the rate includes breakfast and there's "complimentary coffee" in the lobby, which was nice because we went in autumn when it tends to be cold in Chicago. Also, this hotel is located on Michigan Avenue, with all those wonderful green parks right in front of it and Lake Michigan behind it, with easy transportation to downtown and you can easily walk to the Art Institute and the Magnificent Mile. Another benefit is that it's down the block from the Chicago Hilton and Towers, one of the sites where a special bus comes to Congress, with different schedules.

    the drake hotel
    Hotels in
    Chicago
The charismatic hotel was built in 1920 at the beginning of the legendary Michigan Avenue, on the mythical Magnificent Mile. This old Italian-style hotel was inspired by Italian villas and palaces and is located next to the beach on the lake and the immense John Hancock Tower. The interior is quite luxurious. It was built by two brothers,John and Tracy Drake. The Drake Hotel was highly acclaimed from the beginning, but its rise to fame was due to the popularity of radio programs. It was Chicago's first hotel to provide air conditioning in all rooms and also the first to have color TVs.

doubletree by hilton chicago magnificent mile hotel
    Hotels in
    Chicago
This past summer we stayed at this Chicago hotel for a week and it was an good but improvable choice. The Doubletree is a mid-range brand which is part of the Hilton chain and is generally designed for business travelers (I'd put it in the 3-to-4-star range). For the price and service, this particular hotel is closer to four stars but a lot of the services are extras. The location is great, just two blocks from the Magnificent Mile and a ten minutes' walk from Navy Pier. On this front, no complaints. The facilities are correct and appropriate to the hotel's category. The rooms are well-equipped and properly sized. The outdoor pool is in good shape and has nice views of the surrounding skyscrapers. The lobby is spacious and nicely decorated, with a lively but somewhat expensive bar. The downside of this hotel are all the additional fees. The paid parking lot is pretty steep considering the area ($17/hour), breakfast isn't included in the price of the room, and internet isn't free in the rooms. Luckily, I discovered that if you start your connection in the lobby and go up to the room, I would stay connected. But really...for the prices they charge, guests shouldn't have to do these kinds of things. Also, there was a sensor in the mini-bar so it immediately charges your account the second you remove something from the fridge, whether you end up drinking it or not. Aside from these little details, it was a good hotel but I probably wouldn't repeat. For the same price, there are a lot of equally-good hotels in the Chicago area that include all these little extras in the price of the room.

    house 5863 bed & breakfast
    Hotels in
    Chicago
When I'm looking for a place, I always go for a B&B, as I think they offer the best value. Hostels are cheap but unwelcoming, hotels are very expensive for what they offer, but B&B's are comfortable and not too pricey. Very often, you'll pay less than you would in a hotel for a luxurious room in a private apartment. In Chicago, I stayed at the House 5863 B&B, in the residential area of Andersonville. It's not too central, but as in many American cities, the downtown area is just for skyscrapers and offices. For $120 a night we had a double room with all the amenities: a large bed, air conditioning, flat screen TV, and wireless internet. The bathroom was recently remodeled in an impeccable minimalist style and had shampoo, soap and moisturizer. The fridge was completely open to us, and was full of drinks, baskets of fruit, cereals, milk, good quality espresso, and all kinds of goodies including microwave popcorn! The bright, pleasant living room of the apartment is also for community use and is decorated with designer furniture. There's also a computer with internet access that guests can use.

I believe that this is a great, super hotel next to the Magnificent Mile and Millenium Park. It's a good hotel that's worth a visit, not just for the magnificent lobby, but the huge rooms with all the amenities, modern design, and furniture. It's one of the classic sites in Chicago, that was constructed in 1925 and was the 27th largest hotel in the world at the time.

    Chicago
I'm normally the type of traveler who picks a hotel based on cost primarily and isn't particularly loyal to specific hotels or brands. theWit is one of only a handful of hotels I make an exception for. You see, it's perfect. It has a great location right in the thick of things. A the intersection of State and Lake, tourists will find it easy to get around. It's a 2-minute walk to the blue line (to the airport) and right on the "L" loop trains. Additionally, there are buses leaving from across the street to places like Museum Campus or the Museum of Science & Industry. Plus you can walk to Millennium Park, the Magnificent Mile, the Chicago River (don't miss a boat tour), theatres, and tons of great restaurants. The hotel itself has everything you need, with comfortable rooms like you'd expect from the Doubletree/Hilton family, a great bar and also rooftop nightclub, wonderful breakfast (pricey, but delicious), strong wi-fi, and attentive service. But the #1 reason I love to stay here is for the view. Great scenes of Chicago from your windows, and even from the bathtub.

The Peninsula is simply a beautiful hotel, the perfect choice for a romantic getaway be it a weekend or longer holiday in Chicago. The service and attentiveness of the staff is flawless and exudes luxury to make you not want to leave the hotel but stay and enjoy every minute of the experience. Without a doubt worth the price, they understand the meaning of quality and impeccable service. The Spa should not be missed, rest and relaxation at its best, even the gym is immaculate. Wish I could recreate the bathroom at home. Definitely one of my most memorable hotel stays.

This hostel is impressive and is the cleanest I've been to so far. It’s nestled in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, a nice little neighborhood that’s just a train ride away from downtown. The main perks of the place are: - friendly and helpful staff - you get new clean towels every day (yeah – like room service at a hotel) - clean floors - pretty clean bathrooms - clean & spacious kitchen (see photo) - free Wi-Fi - affordable bike rentals - complimentary continental breakfast daily from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - nightly events If you’re a stickler about cleanliness and want affordable accommodations, you’ll enjoy Chicago Getaway Hostel.

For the moment this is the hotel that I have chosen. Although the comments are not great, they all stress that the price is very good for the location. At 1000 euros for 6 nights, not including breakfast, it is not cheap, but in the end it is close to everything and the cost of other hotels are prohibitive.
