San Sebastian accommodations are as varied as the pintxos for which the city is famous. And you're sure to find something to suit you, no matter what your taste or budget. The most famous San Sebastian hotels include Hotel de Londres, located at the beach of La Concha, and the Maria Cristina Hotel, where movie stars attending the International Film Festival stay. But if your budget is not the same as a Hollywood actor's, you can still find hotels in San Sebastian for you, as most major international low-cost chains are represented.

We wanted to get lost in the Basque Country and we had two options, this hotel in San Sebastian and the Sheraton Bilbao, but we ended up going to San Sebastian.
I had already heard about the hotel, that it was spectacular, that it lodges famous people in the film festival, I had seen the rooms in clothes catalogues, in the television, etc, and I wanted to see for myself if it was just a façade to sell products, but no, it is truly beautiful, with an excellent service and a privileged location in the city. I spent one of the most luxurious weekends of my life.
The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, it is one of the most luxurious hotels in Spain, it belongs to the Luxury Collection chain, so the building has to be ancient and unique. It was inaugurated by the Queen María Cristina; this is why the hotel is called like this. It is a five star hotel. The luxury and beauty capture everyone who sees it.
The location couldn’t be better, close to everything, the beaches, the Kurssal, the Victoria Theater, the old part of town, and the pinchos.
The hotel gave us a map of the city, recommended where to dine, where to eat pinchos and where to have drinks. With the hotel card we had free access to the casino and a couple of cool discotheques. We had direct access to the parking lot, about 10 Euros for 24 hours.
This elegant and charming hotel, housed in a beautiful building with a neoclassical façade from the start of the century, is a symbol of San Sebastián. Its location on the beach of La Concha and just steps from the city centre is a luxury. Despite having been modernised and updated, it preserves intact its "belle epoque" traits.
Great 4 star hotel with an exceptional location, just a three minute walk from the beach. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, Kukuarri, which had the honour of receiving the "Revelation 2005" prize. Breakfast is also great, although I must say that if you do not take breakfast included, in the same street there are several bars where you can have a great breakfast.
I love this hotel opposite the Paseo de la Concha and steps from the Old Town of Donostia. This charming building has a decidedly French air from the 20th century. The rooms and decor like decades ago, but the rooms, many of which face the sea, have been renovated with modern, mainly white, decor. It's a great place in the heart of San Sebastian.
We rented this apartment for 9 days and we were very comfortable. The apartment is brand new and is fully equipped and tastefully decorated. It has everything you need to spend a few days in San Sebastian. We were very well looked after by the Feel Free Rentals team. A highly recommended stay!
This hotel is a 10 minute walk from the beach, but is very quiet. Breakfast was spectacular, including a chocolate fountain with churros. Rooms are spacious and clean, with a small terrace included. Highly recommended. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Hotel San Sebastián is practically on Playa Ondarreta. It's a reasonably-priced 4-star hotel with 90 spacious and functional rooms, wifi and minibars. The location is great, and there's a large parking lot if you're travelling to San Sebastian by car. Great service.
The Donostia apartments, in a historic and beautiful part of San Sebastian, are the perfect starting point for discovering all the delights that the city has to offer. Next to Miramar Palace and opposite Ondarreta beach, they are luxury apartments of 67m2 in a recently-constructed building (May 2004). The doors and floor are beech, and the building is finished with steel and marble. There are large elevators and all the luxuries you could ask for (DVD, TV, HIFI, whirlpool, electric blinds, video doorman).
The apartments come with a spacious living room with an extra bed. The kitchen is fully equipped (hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, juicer, mixer, pots and pans, dishes). The bedroom has a large double bed, iron and ironing board and, if needed a cot can be provided. The bathroom is spacious, and the bathtub is fitted with a jacuzzi, perfect for relaxing. And you won't lack for toiletries - there's soap, towels, hairdryer, etc. There's parking available in the same building.
The Pagoa apartment, in the heart of San Sebastian and just 5 minutes from the beach of La Concha, is a nice place to enjoy your stay in the city. It's in walking distance of all amenities (supermarkets, shops, malls), as well as the main restaurant/bar district that is the old town. It's also well-connected, with taxis, buses and trains close by. The Pagoa is a bright 45m2 apartment located on the first floor. Recently furnished, it has a spacious living room with TV, DVD, HIFI and a cozy dining area. The separate kitchen is fully equipped (microwave, fridge, freezer, oven, pots and pans, dishes). The master bedroom is furnished in wood, with a double bed, as well as a bed for children. The bathroom has a large bathtub and is fully equipped with toiletries such as soap and towels. In addition it has a large sunny terrace!
A nice loft, ten minutes from downtown San Sebastian, and a good choice to stay in if you're visiting the city. Located high in the district of Eguia, you can get to Zurriola Beach and the old town in just a few minutes' walk. You have to climb a steep hill (5 minutes walking) to get to the apartment. However, you can also reach the city centre by a bus. The apartment is a cozy 40m2. Pets are allowed, but smoking is forbidden. Recently furnished, it has a living room with everything you might need (TV, DVD, HIFI, WIFI). The apartment's kitchen is open and is fully equipped (microwave, fridge, freezer, oven, pots and pans, dishes). The bedroom has a double bed, and the sofa can unfold for two more people to sleep. The bathroom has a large shower, and is fully equipped, with utensils, and toiletries such as soap and towels. In addition it has WIFI and bicycles for tenants!
I chose this hotel for a few days stay in San Sebastian during the annual Jazz festival. Beautiful and charming, this friendly hotel reflects the ancient village in the upper area of San Sebastián. The service is very personalized and friendly, you find all kinds of details in the rooms. I really didn't feel like leaving the hotel because it has a bar, patio and a host of amenities. A few meters away, there is the restaurant Arzak, and public transport that takes you to the city centre in less than 10 minutes. Highly recommended for a couple, since it has a lot of charm. Details throughout the building make your stay almost like a paradise. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. They accept pets.
Located next to the old part of San Sebastian and the Zurriola beach, the Bretxa apartment is the perfect solution for travelers looking for a place to stay right in the heart of the city, and close to the beach, with quality accommodation and top-class comfort. You'll find many of the city's finest tapas bars and restaurants close by.
A guesthouse in the old town of San Sebastian, near the church of Santa Maria. The apartment on the top floor is a penthouse with two bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. It has a spectacular terrace overlooking the Concha Bay and the entire city. Ibon, the guy who runs it, is very nice and helpful.
This hotel is located on top of Mount Igueldo, as its name suggests. It's an institution, and like everything else in this beautiful city, it is an old landmark that has adapted to the times. Today it might be one of the best places to stay in San Sebastian - not for nothing, it is the hotel of choice for Real Madrid when they play here. You can see the hotel from all over the city, and if you're lucky enough to have a room with a view, you'll have amazing sights to behold both day and night. The room we had had a terrace overlooking the bay. Large, clean, and heated, it was comfortable and eco-friendly (they offer the option of hanging your towel, to keep it for the next day).
The TV was modern, although we didn't use it much, and the minibar was computerized, so if you took something from it, it would be charged directly (we didn't try). The only complaint we could make is that the wifi is charged separately (5 euros for 24 hours), which was a bit annoying. Despite this, the hotel is a good choice, with great service. Some of the waitresses have been working here for decades, and they are welcoming and friendly. The dining rooms are incomparable, overlooking the bay of La Concha. In a storm you can watch waves crashing onto the port, and with good weather you can enjoy the calm sight of the bay. What a great breakfast, too! A delicious buffet, all recently prepared. Okay, so it's not suitable for all budgets, but if you get the chance to stay here, take it!
Ten minutes from the centre of San Sebastian on Mount Igueldo, along the coast of the Cantabrian sea, Maddiola is run by a Basque family who will ensure that you feel at home. The perfect spot to take the kids, or enjoy a romantic getaway. They have animals outside, and a small spa. The homemade breakfast is incredible, for just 7 €. You need to book in advance. € 59-69 per room per night.
Just great! We really just wanted somewhere to sleep and shower, so this was our choice - and it was a good one. It's in a very quiet area, a few steps from the old quarter of San Sebastian. We had a lovely room with a double bed and private bathroom. Exceptional cleaning and service!
This is a nice apartment in the old quarter of San Sebastian, near the port, which is a perfect base to explore the city. You are just steps away from virtually all the points of interest in the city: La Concha beach, the harbour and its famous restaurants, shops, supermarkets, etc. The apartment is spacious (65m2) and modern, recently renovated (February 2009). It has a spacious and bright living/dining room, with a sofabed for two people, and a table for four. The kitchen is fully equipped (dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge, pots and pans, dishes). The spacious bedroom has a large double bed. The ensuite bathroom is fully equipped with utensils and toiletries like soap and towels.
This guesthouse is located in the historical centre of San Sebastian, opposite the Palace of San Telmo, at the foot of Mount Urgull, between the beaches of La Concha and Zurriola. It's a modest guesthouse in a residential building, so there's not much more than a counter that serves as reception and the rooms. We booked a double with extra bed, and to tell the truth we were a little disappointed by the quality : price ratio. The service was poor - the only contact we had in five days was when we arrived and were told that the room was still not ready, despite it being 2pm, and when we left and were given the bill.
It's a small hotel with just five rooms, so we expected more family-style service, and for the managers to take notice of the details, but it was quite the opposite. Upon entering the room I noticed that the cleaning was insufficient, the closet quite old and full of dust. But looking at the view from the balcony ... I could forget those little inconveniences, just gazing over the beauty of the city and the sea. Another advantage is its proximity to the area famous for pintxos, no need to drive anywhere.
A nice apartment in the centre of San Sebastian ... the Tximeleta apartment, in the pedestrian San Marcial street, is a small 20m2 studio where you can enjoy your stay in the city. It's right in the heart of San Sebastian, five minutes from the famous beach of La Concha and the wonderful pintxos of the Old Town. It's on the sixth floor, with elevator access. There's an outside balcony. It has a small kitchen with utensils (dishes, cookware) and appliances (microwave, air conditioning). The bathroom is fully equipped with everything you might need (towels, shower ...). It's brand new and recently refurbished (2008). The studio in addition has a double bed and a large sofa for 2 people and a small TV. It also has Internet connection and air conditioning. In short, a small, central studio to enjoy a great holiday.
"You're in Nagisa Oshima's room, do you know him?". That was the first surprise I got in this hotel in the centre of San Sebastian. Alfred Hitchcock then welcomed me from cinema seats beside the lifts. There was a panel showing the 102 actors and directors who inspired this former cinema which has become a 4-star hotel. For movie lovers like me, it's an honor to stay in a room dedicated to Liz Taylor, Tarantino, Audrey Hepburn, Woody Allen, Orson Welles and Sophia Loren, decorated with frames of their most famous films and their biography as a headboard . The decor is modern and spotless. Downstairs, there is a library-lounge for anyone looking to devour a good book, even if they know that the city is calling out to them and they aren't going to spend any time there. The hotel is a 15-20 min walk from the city centre, which is quite far for San Sebastian but it is worthwhile. It has free wifi and the staff are very friendly, they even have Twitter!: Http://twitter.com/astoria7hotel/ Breakfast is the weakest thing about the hotel, lots of food but hardly varied, and a pretty bad coffee. You can order fried eggs or omelettes, although that is not stated anywhere and staff might not mention it when you arrive. At least you have breakfast with Richard Gere's eyes staring at you from the large posters that decorate the room.
We came here for Christmas 2012, and it was a great success. It's quiet and peaceful, with friendly staff, and a skillful bartender. A good tip: you can reserve a parking space at the hotel for 16 € a day. Then you can leave your car in the parking lot when you go to see the city. The centre is a 15 minute walk, but there's a bus stop just a few metres away. The best option is to purchase the SANSEBASTIAN CARD in the tourist office, which includes 12 trips for 5 days + Free guided tour (1 person), and if you return it in good condition you'll receive € 1. Best of the room: the bed, very comfortable, and with spectacular views of the city from the 9th floor. The best deal we found was by dealing directly with the hotel and the telephone service was phenomenal. Their breakfast buffet looked good, but I didn't have it so I can't say for sure. We'll be back!
This is one of the best choices for renting a holiday apartment in San Sebastian; you can rent it online. There are amazing apartments near Ondarreta beach ... located in a gorgeous historical site near the Miramar Palace, the apartments are a great starting point for discovering all that San Sebastian has to offer. The Ondarreta is a luxury apartment of 90m2, located in a modern building. Equipped with all the luxuries you could want (DVD, TV, WIFI, ...), it is a designer apartment, which has a large living room. The kitchen is fully equipped (microwave, refrigerator, freezer, oven, washer, dryer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, juicer, blender, pots and pans, dishes ...).
The bedroom is well-furnished, with a large double bed, an ironing board and, if needed, a cot can be provided. There's a spacious bathroom where you can relax and enjoy a well-deserved rest after a busy day of sightseeing. And you'll have everything you need: soap, towels, a hairdryer, etc. There's a garage in the same building. The Nerea has 45m2 apartments, recently built (2007). Every apartment has a modern and bright living room, with space for four people. An LCD TV, sofa bed, a coffee table and everything needed to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The apartment's first bedroom has a double bed with a closet and drawers, and the second has a single bed. Both are very bright and well-lit. The kitchen is fully equipped (microwave, refrigerator, freezer, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, pots and pans, dishes ...). Finally the bathroom has a nice shower where you can relax at the end of the day. A great choice for your holiday.
In September 2010 I spent one night at this hotel, to see the U2 concert in Anoeta. When we bought the tickets, we had to find a hotel - it turned out the whole city was full, and the few hotels with free rooms weren't cheap! In the end, this was the cheapest, at 94 euros for a night. I imagine the price was because of the concert, because it seemed very expensive for the quality. Come on, I wouldn't pay more than 50 euros to spend the night here. The Hotel Monte Ulia is far removed from the centre, more than half an hour on foot. The train station is about 2km away. Yes, there's a bus stop on the street, but still. The facade is tatty, and the rooms are pretty crappy, more the kind of thing you'd find in a guesthouse than hotel (even one with just one star). The only saving grace is that the shower has a screen door, there's a flatscreen TV, and the mattresses on the beds are comfortable. The decoration is outdated, and the room had a small balcony but there were no shutters, so light entered all night long (thank goodness it was September and not July). There's no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan. The rooms open with a numeric code provided at reception (the first time I've see this system). In short, I wouldn't go back - and especially not for the price I paid!
You can find several tourist apartments in the same building, all offering quality and comfort. Txurrukase Apartments are a great choice for a fantastic holiday in San Sebastian. Located in a new building on a quiet street in the centre of town, they are within walking distance of everything, so you won't need to rely on public transport to get around the city. The new building (2009) has an ancient classical stone facade. The company that manages the apartments is absolutely reliable, with plenty of experience in apartment rentals in San Sebastian and other destinations.
This is a really great luxury apartment. It's huge, lovely, modern, spacious and very accommodating. And it's in the very centre of San Sebastian (indeed, you can see from the bay of La Concha). You can walk to all the points of interest, like the beach, the old town, the shopping area. It's also so large that it can host up to 10 people, which significantly lowers the cost of accommodation. It's an ideal place to spend a few days of real luxury.
If you visit San Sebastian this is one of the best places to stay, on one of the landmark streets of the city, San Martin Street, just a couple blocks from the beach of La Concha. It is a cozy attic which can sleep up to three people. The apartment is very bright as all rooms have windows. One has a double bed and large closet, and the other has a single bed.
In one of the most enchanting streets of the old town, the harbour road which leads directly from Constitution Square to the old port of San Sebastian, this hotel has just two stars. It is located on the second floor of an old building with many small rooms, but overall it's very comfortable and clean, and reasonably priced considering its extraordinary location. They don't offer breakfast, but you can have it just down the street; there are many solutions nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful (though be aware that reception only opens at 10:30), and the rooms and bathrooms are clean enough. The perfect base for exploring San Sebastian.
This small guesthouse is located in the centre of San Sebastian, making it perfect for forgetting the car and exploring the city on foot. The hostel staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and have a full bathroom with shower. We went in September 2011, and it cost 60 € per night - San Sebastian is an expensive city, and this was the cheapest option we found with a private bathroom.
