The Hotel Algarve Casino is situated on the seafront of the Playa de Rocha and a 5 star establishment. It is the most traditional hotel in Algarve, has been open since 1935, and was the first casino hotel in the area (of course, now it is completely renovated). It has almost 200 rooms, some suites and conference rooms, business center, lobby bar, three restaurants (one international, one buffet and other for snacks), outdoor pool, gym, tennis court, etc. . At the Casino you can find a slot machine room and traditional table and card games (such as roulette, blackjack, poker ...). There is also live entertainment at night.
This hotel is in the heart of the Portuguese wine region Douro River. Vintage House is the harmonious result of an elegant and 100 year old site with all modern comforts. The hotel has an "Academy of Wine" which includes courses, tastings and winery tours. Vintage House has 37 rooms and 6 suites with terraces overlooking the Douro River. All are decorated differently. A nice pool on the river, a beautiful restaurant with a traditional calm menu, intimate atmosphere and personal attention, make a stay at Vintage House hard to forget.
An exceptional hotel in the Algarve, uniting modern luxury with classic Portuguese tile. It's a 5-star hotel with direct access to the beach of San Rafael, which is one of the most beautiful in the area. You'll want for nothing - great breakfasts, and beautiful decor. In the room, which comes with a balcony, you have everything you need to make your stay perfect - a bathroom with tub and shower, hairdryer, amenities, cable TV, telephone, safe, minibar, etc. It is certainly a great choice to stay in this touristy part of Portugal.
An interesting hotel with all amenities located 3 km from the centre of Tavira. They had a deal with breakfast, and we enjoyed two days here at this comfortable hotel. You'll need a car, as it's just outside the city, but it means that you can enjoy more peace and quiet. As it was the second fortnight of September, we were practically alone in the hotel, and could relax in the pool after a strenuous day of touring the Algarve. A great experience!
The Hotel Sol e Praia is situated in the town of Lagos, about 50 meters from Dona Ana beach. It's in the old town, where there are numerous shops, businesses, bars, cafes, restaurants, and it's located about a mile away from the hotel. The rooms, nicely and practically decorated have a bathroom, phone, satellite tv, heat, safe and a terrace.
We like to spend at least seven days at Christmas time outside Madrid, and on this occasion we chose to go to the Algarve. We booked all the way back in August - better to be safe than sorry - and paid 159 euros for the entire week. The hotel location is just perfect, a little over 400 metres from the beach and about 200 from a large supermarket. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, it has everything you need to spend a few days relaxing, with an outdoor pool and deck, a small jacuzzi, gym with sauna (7.50 euros a day), games room, dining room, bar, live music, and wifi for 3 euros an hour. The spacious and comfortable apartment is composed of a bedroom, full bath, kitchen, and living room with two sofa beds.
We chose this hotel because it seemed like good value for 1 week with 5 stars. We paid less than 80 euros a night, including breakfast. There's freee parking and free internet (wireless in the lobby, wired in the rooms). The location is away from the centre of Albufeira, which we saw as positive. It is in a complex with several other hotels, almost all part of the CS chain. The Dunas Suites is near the beach, and in fact everyone who accesses the beach parking passes by the hotel. The rooms are all huge suites, with a very large bed separated from the lounge by a few screens. The living room has a sofa, coffee table, dining table with four chairs, fairly large flatscreen TV, two cabinets and a kitchen area, as you can see in my photos.
The balcony is very big, with a small table with two chairs. The bathroom was simple, without towels but with bathrobes and a hairdryer. We didn't use the room service, as it was a bit pricey. You can ask for an iron and ironing board. They have a bar and a restaurant, and a buffet is 15 euros a head plus drinks, although it was quite limited for a 5* hotel. You can always order a la carte if you prefer. There's also a snack bar, and nine pools with different depths, some suitable for children. There are umbrellas and towels for rent, and live music in the evenings. You can use the spa, the gym, the Italian restaurant and the lounge bar, and there's a mini-market just across the road. The staff are great, very friendly, and always willing to help. The breakfast buffet is wonderful, and includes champagne. Finally, I want to mention that this is popular as a family hotel, and a good place to stay if you're going on holiday with the children.
Vale Do Lobo Resort is situated along 2 km of sandy beaches in Portugal. It offers 100 rooms, all equipped with their own kitchen, and there is maid service 24 hours a day. The hotel offers a tennis court, karaoke, sauna, fitness centre, Golf Course, Spa & Wellness Centre, Massage, Children's Playground, Table Tennis, Jacuzzi, Turkish Hammam, Horse Riding, Outdoor Swimming Pool, Mini Golf and an indoor Swimming pool and other activities.
A little more than 1 km of Praia da Luz, Lagos, is this hotel which has really beautiful villas, most with large balconies overlooking the pool and gardens. The area, I have to say, is quiet and away from the crowds of the cities but has all the comforts of a four star hotel. Spacious rooms with telephone, TV. Mini fridge, hairdryer and a large terrace with a nice outdoor pool, also a great buffet breakfast. The place was certainly very full due to the large influx of tourists, especially English. You can dine when you want at an average price of 12 euros per person. Very close to this hotel is the popular beach resort of Luz and about 5 kilometers from Lagos, there are plenty of other small beaches that are well worth a visit as they all great - there is even a nudist beach.
The Quinta Pero Vicente is a holiday Cottage that can be found near beaches more European selvages. In the park naturale "Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vincentian". Accepts dogs. Fantastic dinner (fish it then ...). Family Mul (only three rooms to rent, with bathroom and heat). There "bikes" free to use. At night, just the sound of the sea and the birds ...
The Auramar Beach Resort in Albufeira is located a few meters away from the beach and it offers views of the Atlantic ocean, all at about 10 minutes from the center of Albufeira. This hotel offers every service and among its amenities is a big pool. The hotel has a jacuzzi near the pool. They have 287 rooms and it's a 3 star hotel.
Aamento Pedras Da Rainha is situated in excellent Tavira. This exclusive hotel has spacious, comfortable, stylish, silent, quiet and comfortable rooms. All are fully equipped with the latest technology, and a great staff to accommodate your stay. The whole hotel will be attentive to your needs to help you with whatever you need.
The Aldeamento Turistico da Prainha Resort in Alvor has 8 hectares of gardens that are on a cliff, with all the necessary facilities. It has two outdoor seawater pools. It also has 3 tennis courts and an infant play area. There are a total of 312 rooms.
A real paradise in the center of Albufeira. The Balaia Golf Village extends over 40 acres of land and has over 500 apartments, apartments studios, and 1, 2 and 3 room villas available, all with standard and superior options available. Within the resort you will find 6 outdoor swimming pools for adults and 6 outdoor pools for children, a Kid's Club, 2 restaurants, 4 tennis courts, a golf course, a 9 hole golf academy, and a health club with an indoor pool heated with natural light, a jacuzzi, a steam room and gym. At only 300 meters from Maria Luisa Beach and about 1.5 km from Albufeira´s "old town," it´s close to the famous strip (OURA) where you can find restaurants, bars, pubs and dance clubs. The Balaia also offers free customer transfers to the center of Albufeira. Within the resort you can also find supermarkets, shops, a beauty salons and a hairdresser... basically everything you might need while on your vacation. The apartments are fully equipped based on the type of room that you rent. The apartments are modern and have a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, washer, dryer, chest refrigeration, refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle ... ect. The Balaia Golf Village is ideal for those seeking relaxation and peace in a paradise, suitable for families with children and groups.
Of the 4 hotels in the shopping and entertainment area in Praia Rocha This one was the worst. It is in front of the area of nightlife (no one rests), is old and is a two star in the making. I went on the recommendation of a guide and it was a fiasco.
This modern hotel is located in the center of Faro, next to the marina. Some of the rooms overlook the Formosa River, as does the spectacular top-floor restaurant terrace. There are lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel rooms are modern, clean, and white, with large widows. The rooms are spacious, with several electrical outlets. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is also spacious and modern, with a variety of useful amenities. The only room for improvement is soundproofing - the windows aren't completely sealed against the noise of the few cars outside at night. In addition, the curtain doesn't quite keep out all the light, which in an area as bright as the Algarve can be a problem. The breakfast buffet, served on the terrace, offers a lot of options, both savoury and sweet. The hotel has wifi, but it's not free: € 3 per hour or € 10 all day. Parking is 12.50 for a day, although there's also blue zone parking nearby. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming.
A magnificent resort where we stayed at Christmas 2006. On this occasion we had vast apartment for 4-6 people with two bedrooms. Because of this, small radiators were not sufficient for heating something this size, the first two days we were quite cold. We had to turn on the oven and open the kitchen door to try to do something for a little more heat. The facilities and the cleanliness perfect.
Every time we are in this Portuguese area we have stayed in this hotel. Great quality - price. Excellent views of the beach, from most rooms, which is less than 3 minutes walk, right next to the hotel, almost private. The pool, delightfully large for young or old, with a great patio to relax with a pina colada or any other cocktail. Breakfast and restaurant magnificent ... All rooms with balconies and fresh fruit for new guests. You can lose yourself or relax, almost heavenly.
Is there anything more beautiful than Tavira? This town in Algarve seems like an old photo, the flowers in full bloom in summer and full of sun in winter. It´s romantic at at any time of year and has remained this way over time. In the historic center of town, the former Convento da Graça is now an idyllic hotel. Ultra modern facilities have been added to the original structure of this seventeenth century building. Tall, wide hallways, a sunlit cloister facing the pool, a view from the garden towards the castle of Tavira, and helpful and personal attention make the inn a perfect accommodation for a weekend with friends.
This spectacular eighteenth century mansion dazzles by its location, its architecture and its decoration. The inn is set up high on its twenty-seven acres of vineyards and the Douro river. The mansion has a very aristocratic air, especially within the rooms, which are richly decorated with period furniture. The common spaces are not far behind. Its suggestive and elegant atmosphere compliment the beamed ceilings and stone archways and the Portuguese tiles stand out. The mansion is home to furniture and art from the 18th century. The inn has a lovely pool, tennis court, helipad and jetty to enjoy a riverside walk.
We celebrated our 1st year anniversary in Tavira and decided on modest accommodation. The customer service and attention to detail, though, was far above modest. Despite the language barriers, they managed to beautifully prepare the room for our special occasion. There was champagne, strawberries, flowers, petals on the bed, candles. Absolutely amazing. Everything seemed to be done by the hands of experts even though it was just a standard place that wasn´t used to preparing for special occasions. They´re obviously willing to make your stay extra nice. Susan, one of the receptionists, speaks very good spanish and is wonderful to work with.
Relax with cocktails is one way to disconnect during your stay in Armacao de Pera. It offers fantastic beaches, great people, and places to enjoy. You can explore villages around the area with a rental car and visit a new world south of Portugal. Don't forget to try some of the famous cocktails either at the hotel or at the Havana. Simply FANTASTIC!
Velamar Hotel is located in the small village of Olhos d'Agua, near Albufeira, on the Portuguese Algarve. A small 3-star hotel. Fundamentally we chose it for the price (about 80 € for a triple room with breakfast) and because it had free parking. The room was spacious with a double bed and one extra little one. The worst thing was that it smelled a little musty. The furniture was old and next to the desk there was no plug, which made it impossible to use the laptop (its old and doesn't last without being plugged in). The TV was small and CRT. The bathroom was quite nice, with a screen in the tub. As for the breakfast buffet, it wasn't bad. There were several different pastries, quite tasty, cheese and some meats, fruit, toast, jam and butter, yoghurt and hot drinks. The best thing was the dining room with a panoramic terrace with great views. The hotel is in a residential area with several restaurants on the street. The beach is about 2 kms away.
This excellent new hotel is a very good deal. The receptionist is very nice, though she has quite an acid sense of humor. You can check in at 14:00, and you can reserve with half board breakfast, which is great and you can probably eat on the terrace, as well as dinner, which is great and not at all buffet. Drinks are extra and half a bottle of water is 3 euros. lunch is a la carte only two first two seconds and two desserts and somewhat sparse but also very good. there is plenty to eat in the area, and cost about € 9, and the fishermen port of Portimao for 20 € two people you get to the ears of cod, sardines, cheese, sardine pate, white wine and dessert . Cleanliness is good although a little late at about three in the afternoon. this just in front of the beach access is very comfortable, and although this area of the strip up there is almost noise, the rooms are very great, mine had about 30m square, two big plasma tv, kitchen and bath design, huge bed overall the hotel is very new and clean great a great experience for what I saw in Portugal normalmente.recomendable 100x100.
This beautiful rural house can be found inside the Sierra de Monchique, in a eucalyptus forest that seems like it's something that came out of one of your dreams. Run by two Belgians wonderful and Freya Luc Wauters, who bought land near idyllic living, while offering not only their hospitality and kindness, also the excellent cuisine Luc a retired professional chef, cooking for guests if you requested. The house is beautiful, spacious with all the amenities, perfect for retiring and perfectly situated 20 minutes drive from the beach and in the mountains. A perfect place to meet and enjoy the Algarve. Highly recommended. Excellent home, superb hosts and a really unique price, web look, depending on season. But definitely a great price and a beautiful place.
Really disappointed by this hotel. We found a rusty, dirty-looking bathtub, stained walls, spider webs, moisture and a strong odor. The last straw was returning to find three cockroaches, and the water running non-stop, unable to turn off. They didn't offer us any solutions, just put a towel on the floor for the water and killed the cockroaches. The next day we tried to get our money back for the rest of the stay, but nothing's happened so far. The agency has even spoken with the hotel manager, but no solution. We've changed room, and the new one is a slight improvement, but there are still plenty of problems. I strongly advise against staying in this hotel, which has 2 stars and quite a high cost (we paid 115 a night), way more than it should be.
You can find the apartment complex Magnoliamar Beach Club in the portuguese town of Lagos. This place offers an excellent location as it is just a meters from the beautiful beach of Porto de Mos. They offer spectacular facilities to its guests such as a restaurant, a complete game room, a gym and more.
