    Places to stay in Paris

What are you looking for when you think about where to stay in Paris? Is your first priority enjoying the romantic atmosphere, or sticking to a budget? As you can imagine, the French capital is one of the world's most expensive destinations for tourists, but nevertheless, there is plenty of Paris lodging on offer, with everything from the most luxurious Paris hotels down to backpacker hostels for the traveler on a budget.

When you think about the perfect places to stay in Paris, does your mind conjure up images of the Eiffel Tower and Seine River? Well, you can find hotels in Paris near these central attractions, although it's certainly not the cheapest option for lodging in Paris. Search for Paris hotel deals, but be aware that around peak season, like summer or holidays like Valentine's Day, prices can increase dramatically.

For cheaper Paris accommodations, it's better to look outside the center, and search for a small, family-run guesthouse or hostel on the outskirts of the city. Luckily, the French capital is very well-connected in terms of public transport. The extensive metro network means that you shouldn't have any problems getting around. Book your room through minube today, and enjoy your trip to the city of love!

We couldn’t have chosen a better hotel in Paris: it’s located in the heart of the 10th arrondissement between [poi=4370]Gare du Nord[/poi] and Gare de L’est and only about a 15-minute walk from [poi=149]Le Sacre-Cœur[/poi]. As is the case with most hotels in Paris, the exterior is quite old and shabby and does no justice to the interior. Our room was large and luminous and had a large bed and recently-refurbished bathroom…basically, everything you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. We didn’t select the breakfast option at the hotel, but there are many shops and markets on the same street where you can pick up something to eat in the morning before a long day of tourism. All in all, it’s a more than recommendable place to stay in Paris.

The first time we stayed in Paris, it was at a little place in Montmartre which we would never have found if not for the bus which took us there from the airport. It was in the middle of a hill in a not-so-great neighborhood near Pigalle in the north of Paris. The second time, we stayed at Banlieu, located in a rather ugly industrial area. The only upside was that there was a metro stop nearby but it was still a pain getting to the center of the city. The last time, we were looking for a hotel close to Ópera and found this place. It’s very nice and, while a bit pricey, it’s worth it to spend a bit extra to really be able to enjoy the few days you’re spending in Paris. Otherwise, you’re sure to spend the same money on taxis!

The Hotel Brittany is located between Paris and the Montmartre neighbourhood. It's a neighborhood called the new Athens, because there are many restaurants and shops selling Balkan products. Pigalle, with its theaters and cabarets, is nearby. This has a British sensibility, with elegant decor - precious woods, deep leather chairs, all very comfortable. The building is from the early twentieth century, and has a 24-hour reception, with the press, maps and tourist services. They speak English. The rooms cost between 150 and 200 euros per night, 15 euros more if you want breakfast in the room (12 euros down the hall). The more luxurious rooms are up to 180 euros per night. A total of 42 rooms renovated in 2005.

    Paris
The Terminus Nord hotel is opposite the Gare du Nord in Paris. It is where trains bound Eurostar and Thalys to Amsterdam, London, Brussels ... If you are taking an early train, it is convenient. The neighborhood is lively, but not your typical Parisian bohemian area. It is in the African quarter, oriental, where there is nightlife in the streets, and few options for eating well. The Terminus Nord has 236 rooms, which were renovated recently. They have wifi access, and you can install an extra bed, children under 12 years stay free in the parents' room. There is a sauna, a fitness room, a hamam, steam room, jacuzzi ... They are very helpful and you can get a babysitter, hire a car or change the money. From 150 euros per night.

This hotel is on Rue Lafayette and straddles three very different Paris neighborhoods. On one side, you have the Ópera area where you can shop at the [poi=2055]Galeries Lafayette[/poi]. On the other side, you have Rue des Martyrs and its concentration of small, independent shops. Finally, you have the Grands Boulevards area where you’ll find theatres, cinemas, and some of the most beautiful covered galleries in the city. It’s close to the lines 7 and 12 of the metro. Although the hotel is on Rue Lafayette, don’t fret because the rooms are perfectly sound-proofed. The wi-fi works well (but avoid the expensive computer in the reception) and the elevators, while a bit old, are still in fine working order. The cleanliness was fine and the staff was attentive. The breakfast is a bit odd so, if you can, try to have breakfast at one of the nearby cafes. The hotel is on the rue Lafayette, near 3 very different neighborhoods of Paris. For one, the Opera area where you can go shopping at Galeries Lafayette. On the other side is Rue des Martyrs with small independent shops, and finally Grands Boulevards, with cinemas, passages and most beautiful covered galleries of the city. It's a great location and very close to Le Peletier metro stop (line 7) and Notre Dame de Loreto (line 12) in the Quartier de Opèra. Although the hotel is on Lafayette Street don't panic because rooms are perfectly soundproof, the wifi was fine (the receiving computer is expensive, avoid), the lift was old but fine and the cleaning staff were proper and very attentive. Breakfast was very expensive so if you can go to a local cafe it's more economical.

    Paris
Luxury hotel in the Opera district in Paris. Perfect if you want in a neighborhood for meeting up, the Louvre is a 20 minute walk, and department stores Printemps and Galeries Lafayette less than 10 minutes away. The opera is nearby, along with several theaters and concert halls. It is in the typical Haussmann style, the developer who renovated Paris, removing houses and narrow medieval streets to create broad avenues facilitating traffic. The rooms are decorated with an antique touch, but everything is very new. They are spacious, with flat screen TV, internet, all you need for coffee and tea. The price starts at 250 euros per night, with access to the wellness center, spa, jacuzzi and sauna. Now Accor manages it under the Sofitel brand.

The Bac Saint Germain hotel is on Rue Du Bac, the métro of the same name is next door so it's convenient to use public transport or to walk (by car is a bit more difficult). It's a 3-star hotel with a small roof terrace overlooking the roofs of Paris where you can take your breakfast. The museums and the Latin Quarter are within 20 minutes walk. The double room rate starts at 89 euros/night, up to 169 euros depending on the comfort and the season. Paris
This is a charming and well-located hotel in the Ópera neighborhood. It’s very small, but still clean and welcoming. I reserved a double room with two beds, a small desk area, and a mini-kitchen with a small refrigerator and microwave; in other words, the basics that you need. The bathroom was very spacious. The rooms are quiet at night and it’s located on a street where there are various bars and terraces if you want to have a drink in the evening. There are supermarkets and various other shops just around the corner. The entrance to the metro is just a minute away and you’re at major landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in less than ten minutes. The price is more than reasonable, but I’d suggest making reservations ahead of time. The hotel staff is very kind and they make the effort to communicate with you despite the language barrier. I’d suggest sending a confirmation email two weeks in advance to explain any special requests or needs you might have.

    Paris
The Paris Orléans Hotel is at the end of the metro line 4, stop Porte d'Orléans. It is very convenient if you come to Paris by car because you're out of town, it's much easier to park and the ring road that goes around the city is 500 meters away. It's not a neighborhood to walk out at night, I don't recommend it as there's not much to do. Metro Line 4 is very fast and takes you to Montparnasse in 10 minutes, to the center of Paris in 20 minutes, as well as the Latin Quarter, Lazare venues and bars, but you have to be willing to take the subway. It's a 3 star hotel in a beautiful nineteenth century building, renovated in 2006 with 91-rooms that cost 80-120 euros, the higher price for expensive suites. Breakfast isn't included but there are several local cafes that offer best breakfasts. There is wireless Internet, newspaper and some magazines (after consultation) and negotiation with local car parks to get good rates.

If you’re looking to spend a romantic weekend in Paris, I’d definitely suggest staying in this hotel, above all because it’s in a privileged location right beside the [poi=248]Louvre[/poi] and the [poi=54567]Tuilleries Gardens[/poi]. The room in the photos is the suite, the only one in this 3-star hotel. It’s on the 7th floor and has some lovely views of the Louvre and surrounding area. The décor is opulent, the bathroom large and luminous, and you’ll have the entire floor to yourself as the suite is the only room on the 7th floor. The hotel has 20 rooms, free wi-fi, and an ideal location. The price (as in all of Paris) is a bit high (130 euros/night without breakfast). A basic room goes for between 130 and 180 euros, a double for between 190 and 230, and the breakfast costs 15 euros.

On Poissonniere Boulevard, right on the corner of Rue Poissonniere, this 3-star hotel is strategically located in the city of Paris, a few blocks from Opera metro station which makes it very comfortable to move to Paris in no time and be able to make good use if your stay is short and you don't have much time to walk. It was built in 1800 and has 5 floors and about 121 rooms, including 47 doubles. The rooms are not luxurious, but comfortable, with all the elements that the big hotels provide, such as currency exchange, lift (in many of the older hotels in Paris lift don't exist), a hearty breakfast, conference room and internet service. The price is affordable and it's very well located, close to the main attractions of the City of Light, to which you can walk if you like. Among the photos attached you'll see a plaque marking the site where the famous French politician Jean Jaures was killed. The place is on rue Poissonniere around the hotel, at the entrance to a famous bar.
